PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The Pagan Arts Initiative, part of the Delaware Valley Pagan Network (DVPN), presents a winter solstice celebration in song, to be held at three different dates in three different locations around the Philadelphia area.
The interactive performance features the Spiral Song Feminist Vocal Ensemble, assisted by volunteers from the host churches and of DVPN’s spiritual community. The singers use contemporary and traditional music to lead participants through a the longest night of the year and the potential for transformation that it brings. Musical influences include Western polyphonic choral singing, Native American texts, Greek mythology, Feminist rounds, Pagan chants, and hymns. There is a requested donation of $10 and $5 for seniors and children under 18, but everyone is welcome regardless of ability to donate. At the Unitarian locations, congregation members have a discounted rate of $8. Child care will be available, and the running time of 75 minutes may be long for children under 10.
