The first production of DVPN's arts project, Pagan Arts Initiative, played to appreciative audiences of the Philly Fringe Festival from September 4th to 17th. Called a "true Fringe production" by Fringe Festival staff who saw a performance, it combined classic Greek tragedy and modern urban atmosphere with outdoor performances on a block of N. American St. in Northern Liberties.
PAI, however, could not have presented this play without the generous support of Karen Schlechter and Tara Swartz, whose contributions made a critical difference. Unfortunately, this fact was not part of the published programs, an omission for which the producer, Franklin Evans, offers his apologies. Thank you, Karen and Tara, for your energy and support of Pagan arts.
Our next production is Winter Solstice Celebration (see related newsletter article), with tentative dates in December of the 10th, 17th and 20th. Watch our website for further details. Performance locations under negotiation are West Chester, Wayne and either West Philly or Northwest Philly. |
